Blur / Pixelate online with ImgShifter

The Blur & Pixelate redaction tool destroys sensitive pixel data in any photo. Drag rectangles on the preview over faces, license plates, names on screenshots, IDs, or any region you want to hide. Multiple regions per image are supported - each appears in the Regions list with size and a remove button. Pick Blur (Gaussian) for a natural-looking de-emphasis or Pixelate (mosaic) for harder-to-reverse destruction of detail, then download.

Pixelate is harder to reverse than blur. Heavy blur can sometimes be partially de-blurred with deconvolution algorithms; pixelation with a large enough block size destroys the underlying detail completely. For maximum privacy on faces, IDs, and license plates, use Pixelate at 60-100% intensity. The redacted pixels become part of the output image bytes - recipients can't 'undo' the effect by zooming in. This is different from PDF redaction tools that hide content behind a selectable black box.

Everything runs in your browser using the Canvas API and the built-in Gaussian filter. iPhone HEIC files are decoded locally with a WebAssembly module first. This is the safest way to redact sensitive information online - your image never reaches a server, the redaction is irreversible in the output, and the tool works offline once the page loads.
